Belgium has published the documentation for its latest offshore wind tender, for Princess Elizabeth Zone 1 (Lot 1), with a capacity of 700MW.
The filing deadline followed by evaluation will take place in the third quarter of 2025, with the result announced in the fourth quarter of 2025.
The winner will receive the permit and the necessary permits for the construction and operation of offshore installations for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources.
The course of the tenders is laid down in the Royal Decree (RD) of 3 June 2024 establishing the competitive procedure, the conditions and procedure for granting the domain concessions and the general conditions for the use of the plots for the construction and operation of an installation for the production of electricity from renewable energy sources in the sea areas under the jurisdiction of Belgium.
After the launch of the process, there is a preparation period of eight months.
During this time, interested parties can also submit questions to the Directorate-General for Energy.
This will be followed by one month in which a bid can be submitted.
After nine months, the tender is closed and is followed by a three-month evaluation period.
This can be extended once by a maximum of three months.
At the end of the evaluation, the Directorate-General for Energy will formulate his advice to the Minister of Energy.
During December 2025 the winner will be announced.
