Energy Central Campus (ECC) – a partnership between Port of Blyth, Northumberland County Council and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult – has teamed up with RWE’s 1400MW Sofia offshore wind farm as a Platinum Business Sponsor.
The collaboration will see RWE Sofia join ECC’s initiative to develop the clean energy workforce of the future.
The partnership enables RWE Sofia to directly influence activities and outputs of ECC to ensure the creation of high-quality talent.
The wind farm’s construction base is located near the Energy Central Learning Hub at Port of Blyth’s Bates Clean Energy Terminal in the north-east of England, providing an excellent opportunity to showcase the project to learners and the local community, raising awareness and interest in potential career paths within their organisation.
ECC chair Martin Lawlor (pictured right) said: “I am delighted to welcome RWE Sofia as Platinum Business Sponsor for ECC.
“RWE’ Sofia’s expertise in renewable energy and ongoing investment in providing placement and apprenticeship opportunities to young people make them the ideal partner to strengthen our delivery and help us achieve our goal of creating a highly skilled workforce of the future for the clean energy industry.”
RWE senior supply chain manager Graham Wright (pictured centre with ECC head of operations Paul Valentine) added: “RWE Sofia is proud to support the Energy Central Campus as a Platinum Business Sponsor.
“This initiative represents a bold step forward in driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and shaping the future of clean energy.
“Positioned near our largest and most sophisticated projects to date, this initiative presents an excellent opportunity to create a lasting impact in Blyth and play an important role in this transformative initiative.”
