EDF remains committed to Atlantic Shores
Statement comes following Shell withdrawal

EDF remains committed to the Atlantic Shores project, despite joint venture partner Shell's decision this week to pull back from the effort.

A spokesperson for the array said: "Atlantic Shores is committed to New Jersey and delivering the Garden State’s first offshore wind project.

"Business plans, projects, portfolio projections and scopes evolve over time – and as expected for large, capital-intensive infrastructure projects like ours, our shareholders have always prepared long-term strategies that contemplate multiple scenarios that enable Atlantic Shores to reach its full potential."

The first phase of the project received a contract from the state of New Jersey for 1,510MW of offshore wind capacity, and Atlantic Shores estimates that the remaining project areas in its portfolio will generate an additional 3,500-4,000MW of power.

Atlantic Shores South, which includes the first phase of the project, received approval of its Construction and Operations plan for up to 2.8GW in October from the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management.

The spokesperson added: "While we can’t comment on the views of shareholders, Atlantic Shores intends to continue progressing New Jersey’s first offshore wind project and our portfolio in compliance with our obligations to local, state and federal partners under existing leases and relevant permits."
