Ireland opens auction consultation
Longer CfD, relief periods considered in RESS 6 revamp

Ireland’s Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment has opened a consultation on the terms and conditions for the sixth round of the state’s Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS6).

The department is asking developers whether or not it should change the length of the contracts offered under the scheme, and if an increase in contract length would lead to lower bid prices.

The department is also considering extending the period of relief for RESS projects experiencing judicial review or system operator-related delays from two to three years.

The department is taking consultation responses until 13 March, and aims to launch the RESS auction in the second half of 2026, Minister Darragh O'Brien (pictured) said late last month.
