Marine engineer seals $1.5 million Middle East deal
Tekmar Group has added to its order book with a Middle East port infrastructure deal

A marine engineering firm has strengthened its order book with a $1.5 million deal.

Tekmar Group is set to supply subsea protection apparatus to a Middle Eastern port development.

Bosses say the agreement – secured with an existing customer – reflects the County Durham-headquartered firm's “significant value in the ports and harbours sector”.

They add the equipment, set to be delivered later this year, will “provide long-term stability and protection for port infrastructure in challenging marine conditions”.

Richard Turner, chief executive at the Newton Aycliffe-based business, said: “This award highlights our continued success in developing a more diversified global footprint.”

The deal comes just days after the County Durham-headquartered firm cheered its best-ever order book following a £7 million-plus wind farm contract.
