RenewableUK appoints Tara Singh as new CEO
Singh takes up the role on 23 February

RenewableUK has named Tara Singh as its next chief executive, with her appointment effective from 23 February.

The association said she brings more than two decades of experience across UK government, global energy companies and public affairs.

She added that she looks forward to working with RenewableUK’s 500 member companies to deliver a reliable and secure clean power system.

“I’m proud to champion the UK's clean energy sector, which provides half the UK’s electricity, supports hundreds of thousands of jobs, and has saved consumers over £100 billion since 2010 by cutting our exposure to volatile imported fuels,” said Singh.

“I’m looking forward to working with RenewableUK’s 500 member companies which are leading the energy transition by delivering a reliable and secure clean power system and creating economic opportunities for communities all around the country.

“My priority will be to ensure that Government and industry work even closer together to build on our success, driving growth which strengthens our energy security, gets bills as low as possible, and delivers investment to every part of the UK".

Deputy chief executive Jane Cooper added: “It’s been an immense privilege to lead RenewableUK’s passionate and talented team over the last ten months, and I am thrilled to be working with Tara on the next stage of our sector’s growth.

“She brings a wealth of experience from her work in Government and at Burson. As the political and media landscape has continued to shift over the past year, our sector has faced growing scrutiny and complexity.”

RenewableUK chair Laura Fleming said: “On behalf of the RenewableUK Board and our membership I would like to congratulate Tara warmly on her appointment as CEO.

“She steps into the role at a crucial time for our sector, as the association remains determined to advocate strongly for the right environment to deliver our country’s clean energy future, building vital new clean energy infrastructure.”
