Nine projects amounting to 3600MW of capacity have submitted bids into South Korea’s latest offshore wind auction, according to local reports.
The nine projects are competing for 1.8GW of capacity, divided into 400MW reserved for floaters, 400MW for projects led by public companies, and 1GW for fixed-bottom projects.
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) has submitted bids for four projects, according to reporting by South Korea’s Electric Power Journal.
The Danish developer has entered bids withf the Haesong 1 and 3 fixed bottom arrays, each 504MW and located off the west coast, the journal stated.
CIP also has two bids in for the Haewoori 2 and 3 floating projects in the Ulsan cluster off Korea’s east coast, it added.
Rounding out the fixed bottom bids were the 340MW Hanbit project from Myungun Industrial Development and B.Grimm Power and the 250MW Gulupdo Island proposal from SK Eternix and Daewoo Engineering.
Ocean Winds and Kumyang Electric Co. round out the floating proposals with a bid for the 375MW East Blue Power phase of its KF Wind project.
The public-led carve out of the auction features two proposals: for the 400MW Jangbogo project from Korea Western Power Corporation and Jeonnam Development Corporation off the coast of Jeollanam and the 160MW Geumodo project from DL Energy and Jorea Midland Power.
South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) is expected to announce winners next month.
