CD Group is a diverse engineering services group established in 1987.
We operate as a design and detail drafting contractor as well as supplying design engineering resource to Clients both in-house in Newcastle and at their offices worldwide.
Originally servicing mainly the offshore oil and gas and pharmaceutical markets we have expanded over the years to encompass the provision of engineering design services to the renewables, marine, power generation, pharmaceutical and manufacturing sectors and we operate throughout the UK as well as Norway, Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
We are particularly strong in the Norwegian market in the supply of engineering staff to the offshore energy sector. We are fairly unique in that we are able to supply direct to Clients when most UK suppliers are forced to operate through tier 2 arrangements with Norwegian suppliers. Companies such as Rosenberg WP, Kaefer and Archer happily use our services when they will not use any other UK suppliers.
We have also expanded by acquisition and purchased a pharmaceutical D.O. in 1990 as well as a translation business, Eldon Bureau, and we now own a P.Q.S. firm, CD Associates. The core of our business, however, remains design and detailing.
Diversification and acquisition have led to our range of services including not only design and detail engineering but also:
Many of our employees are seconded to client’s offices world-wide and we are unique in the supply of such on-site engineering expertise in that, unlike employment agencies, we have the necessary engineering background and understanding of appropriate skills to ensure that we provide the correct people.
We also offer “on the job” training in the latest CAD software (including AutoCAD, PDMS, AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks and Tribon, amongst others) supported by public and other private organisations where necessary.
Recent and current projects include:
• Structural detail design of the RWE Galloper OWF distribution platform topside (2,500t) and jacket (1,100t). • Cable management system design for an offshore wind turbine.
