SSE Renewables

SSE Renewables

SSE Renewables is a leading developer and operator of renewable energy across the UK and Ireland, with a portfolio of around 4GW of onshore wind, offshore wind and hydro.

Company Profile

Part of the FTSE-listed SSE plc, the organisation’s strategy is to drive the transition to a net zero world through the world class development, construction and operation of
renewable energy assets.

SSE Renewables aims to treble its renewable energy output from 2019 levels to 30TWh by 2030, making a significant contribution to the decarbonising of the power sector
and achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

It also has the largest offshore wind development pipeline in the UK and Ireland at over 6GW. And together with 50/50 joint venture partner Equinor, SSE Renewables is building what will be the world’s biggest offshore wind farm at Dogger Bank. This development will provide enough renewable energy for more than 4.5 million homes, or around 5% of the UK’s electricity requirements.

Its operational offshore wind portfolio consists of 487MW across two offshore joint venture sites, Beatrice and Greater Gabbard, both of which it operates on behalf of asset
partners.

The largest generator of onshore wind power in the UK and Ireland, SSE Renewables owns nearly 2GW of onshore wind capacity across the islands and is developing another 1GW-plus to meet net zero goals.
